MAIDAN SHAHR (PAN and Afghan soldiers in Maidan Wardak and Ghazni provinces, officials said on Saturday.
One militant was killed and some others were arrested during an operation in the Syedabad district of Maidan Wardak, the NATO-led force said in a statement.
District chief, Muslim, said the joint operation was aimed to arrest a Taliban commander, Mullah Jamil, who managed to flee the scene before the arrival of the joint force. Four suspected insurgents were captured.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed the rebels killed four foreign soldiers in the Salar area of the district late on Friday.
A separate statement from the NATO-led force said two insurgents were also killed in the Andar district of neighbouring Ghazni province. Some weapons were also recovered from the insurgents.
In a traffic accident, one passenger was killed and eight others were wounded when a minivan collided with a bus on the Kabul-Kandahar Highway in the Salar area of Syedabad on Friday afternoon.
