ISLAMABAD (PAN): A trilateral meeting among Afghan, Pakistani and US officials is scheduled to begin in Islamabad later on Tuesday, a foreign ministry official said.

Afghanistan‘s Deputy Foreign Minister Javed Lodin and US Special Representative Mark Grossman have arrived in the Pakistani capital to attend the three-way talks.

Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir would represent the host nation at the meeting, which would discuss the ongoing insurgency in the region, the official added.

Foreign ministry official Asif Khalil told Pajhwok Afghan News intelligence-sharing among the allies and the immediate aftermath of Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden’s death would also figure at the talks.

Despite having disagreements on the way forward in Afghanistan, Pakistan and the United States are working together to resolve the problem, according to diplomats.
