TIRINKOT (PAN): Militants fired at least four rockets at an airfield used by foreign troops in the capital of central Uruzgan province, but there were no casualties, officials said on Wednesday.
The assault took place late on Tuesday night, with rockets landing inside the base, Margaret Nicholas, a spokesperson for foreign troops in the province, told Pajhwok Afghan News. She said there were no casualties or property damage.
Police chief Fazl Ahmad Sherzad said the attack was carried out from the Sarkham village west of Tirinkot. He also said there was a bomb blast in the city, but no one was hurt.
Qari Yusuf Ahmadi, a purported Taliban spokesman, claimed several Afghan and foreign troops were killed in the rocket strike.
