KABUL): One suspected militant was shot dead and four others injured during a clash with police east of Kabul city, officials said on Monday.
The shootout took place in Ahmad Shah Baba Meena town on Sunday evening after the suspects in a car resisted their search, crime branch chief, Col. Mohammad Zahir, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
One of the car occupants tried to hit a police officer with a knife during the search, but he was shot at and killed by another policeman. Four others injured in the incident were taken to hospital. They were under police observation, Zahir said.
Meanwhile, a Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said the fighters attacked a police vehicle in the area, killing seven policemen.
But Zahir said the car occupants were criminal and were drunk at the time of the clash.
