ZARANJ (PAN): At least 20 people were killed when a passenger bus struck a roadside bomb in southwestern Nimroz province late on Thursday, police said. Another 31 were wounded.
The incident took place in the Khashrud district on Thursday night, police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Jabbar Purdali, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The 303 passenger bus was travelling on the highway between Nimroz and Kandahar when it hit the hidden mine, he said. The dead included women for planting the bomb to target Afghan and foreign troops.
Witnesses said it was a powerful blast that comprehensively destroyed the bus.
Taliban insurgents frequently use improvised explosive devices in their attacks against Afghan and foreign troops.
