ASADABAD (PAN.
Traders, officials and citizens of Helmand donated 150,000 afghanis – around $3,000 – to families that have been displaced in the Shultan Valley of Shigal district in Kunar province, said Fazullah Waheedi, governor of Kunar.
Each of the displaced families received 5,000 afs he said, the equivalent about $100.
In recent weeks, hundreds of shells have been fired by Pakistani forces into various Kunar districts that share a border with Pakistan, inflicting more than 60 casualties and displacing hundreds of families, he said.
Waheedi said that three more shells landed while Member of Parliament Maulvi Shahzada Shahid and the head of the Kunar provincial council, Mya Hasan Adel, were distributing the aid from Helmand to families in the mountainous areas of Kunar.
MP Shahid said the Wolesi Jirga strongly condemns the attacks of Pakistani forces on Kunar.
