KABUL and a child were killed and dozens others injured in a head-on collision in the capital Kabul, witnesses and officials said on Thursday.
The predawn accident took place in the Mirwais Maidan area of the city, where a truck rammed into a van, killing five people, a shopkeeper in the area said.
Fazal Baik told Pajhwok Afghan News all van passengers, including women and children, were evacuated to hospital.
Mohammad Salim, a doctor on duty at the Ibni Sina Hospital, confirmed receiving five injured people, including three women and two men. Four of them were released after being administered first aid.
However, Lt. Col. Lal Gul, a traffic department official, said three people were killed in the accident. He had no information about the injured passengers.
