KABUL): President Hamid Karzai on Saturday condemned a suicide attack that killed nine people, including a policeman and foreign soldiers, in the Darul Aman area of Kabul.
The bomber detonated his explosives-laden vehicle near a convoy of foreign troops in front of the Afghan National Army (ANA) Recruitment Centre at around 11:30am.
At least 13 International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) troops were among 18 people killed in the bombing. The attacker detonated his explosives-laden vehicle near a convoy of foreign troops in front of the Afghan National Army (ANA) Recruitment Centre at around 11:30am.
“Initial reports indicate that 13 International Security Assistance Force servicemembers died following an improvised explosive device attack in Kabul earlier today,” the NATO-led force said in a statement, which did not give the victims’ nationalities.
In a statement from his spokesman’s office, the president denounced the attack as a dastardly terrorist act. “The enemies of Afghanistan want to kill Afghans … but they will never weaken our peace resolve,” Karzai added.
He condoled with families of those killed in the blast and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured, including civilians.
