MAHMUD RAQI (PAN): Residents of central Kapisa province are not happy of the provincial council and complained they were unable to solve problems of the people.
The province has total nine seats in the council, including three reserved seats of women.
They had rarely seen the council members in their offices as they were mostly busy in their personal affairs, Taj Maluk, resident of Alasai district of the province told Pajhwok Afghan News.
There were a number of innocent locals who were behind the bars and they had asked the members several times to help them in that regard but in vain, he said.
Haji Muhammad Ullah from provincial capital Mahmud Raqi city said they expected so much of the council but it failed to deliver.
“I have a legal case related to my friend murder and when I visit any government, the officla demand money while the council members are also not helping me,” he said, adding the council was active few years back and was solving people’s problems but they were not helping them right now.
“My son was wounded and several rooms of my house were destroyed in gun battle between militants and foreign forces, so I discussed the issue with the council member for any possible compensation, but has no positive result at all,” said Atiqullah resident of Tagab district.
Abdul Aleem Saqib, resident of the province said the council members were not discharging their duties honestly.
“They do not help people and try to have good relations with the provincial administration, for personal gains,” he said.
Najibullah Rahimi, member of the council termed complaints of people as baseless and said provincial council was serving them and they were working day and night to solve their problems.
“We are trying to help our people up to our authority, but there are some complicated issues, we are unable to solve,” he said.
They come to office in the morning and left at 4pm as other government officials do and they worked for people during those hours on daily basis, he added.
About monitoring of the projects, Rahimi said each project was implemented according to wishes of elders of that area while they were monitoring the projects too.
