ASADABAD (PAN faculty at the Syed Jamaluddin Afghan University was laid in the eastern province of Kunar, officials said on Friday.
The three-storey building would be constructed at a cost of $500,000, provided by the Ministry of Counter-Narcotics, the university chancellor said.
Mir Ahmad Hamid told Pajhwok Afghan News the building, having 30 rooms and other facilities, would take a year to be constructed.
Governor Syed Fazlullah Wahidi said the funds had been allocated to the province for not growing poppy crops. For the bright future of the youth, the money was being spent on expanding the university, he added.
Provincial council head, Mia Hasan Adil, asked the government to provide more facilities for the students of Kunar, where work on the Education Faculty at the university was launched last week.
