KABUL): Six militants, including a suicide attacker, were killed and two others wounded in separate incidents in several parts of the country, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Sunday.
The suicide attacker wanted to target a police check post in Dehrawud district of central Uruzgan province when police shot him dead before reaching his target, the ministry said in a statement.
The police and civilians stayed unhurt in the incident.
Over the past 24 hours, five insurgents were killed during operations by Afghan and international troops in southern Helmand and southeastern Khost provinces, the statement said.
Another two insurgents were wounded and seven more arrested, it said. Three Kalashnikovs, one suicide vest, 957 kilograms of opium and a car were confiscated during the operations.
