The killings took place in the victims’ houses in Zang Abad area of Panjwai district on Sunday morning as reports from Kandahar revealed that a mentally deranged soldier executed the murder.
Senate Chairman Fazal Hadi Muslimyar told reporters they would continue their walkout to seek punishment for those responsible in the merciless killings of civilians.
“The US has started more terrible acts than those done by the Soviets in Afghanistan,” Muslimyar said, adding, they would stand by the Afghans if they launched movement for liberty.
He called on members of all provincial councils to lock up their offices and join lawmakers to express solidarity for the victims and their families.
Senator from Kandahar province, Amanullah Azimi, sought harsh punishment for those responsible for the brutal act on Sunday, which sent shockwaves across the country.
“These infidel forces have done such terrible acts in Afghanistan from time to time,” Azimi said.
Another senator from the province, Rona Tarin, and senator representing Hindu and Sikh minorities, Anarkali Hunaryar, also censured the tragic incident and called it a gross violation of human rights.
The Wolesi Jirga, lower house of parliament, was also shut on Monday in protest against the Panjwai incident, as angry lawmakers condemned the cruel attack on ordinary people in Kandahar.
