KANDAHAR CITY (PAN fuel tanker caught fire after ploughing into a passenger vehicle in southern Kandahar province on Friday.
The accident happened on the Kandahar-Herat highway in the Sra Qala area of Panjwai district at about 9am, the governor’s spokesman, Javed Faisal, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
On its way from Kandahar City to Panjwai, the passing vehicle also was set ablaze, killing seven passengers and critically wounding three others, he said.
Col. Sardar Mohammad Nazari, the district police chief, said the driver lost control of the speeding fuel tanker and hit the passenger van. The dead included two women, hed added. The victims’ bodies were charred beyond recognition.
