JALALABAD (PAN): At least five border policemen were killed in a roadside bombing in the Durbaba district of eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Saturday.
A remote-controlled bomb struck a police vehicle in the mountainous area late on Friday, Col. Wali Khan Shenwari, commander of the 1st Military Corps in east, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said five policemen on board the vehicle were killed on the spot in the Shorgar area, bordering Pakistan.
Taliban claimed responsibility for the bomb attack, with their spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid saying 10 policemen were killed in the explosion.
Elsewhere, one schoolteacher was killed and another injured when a roadside bomb struck a local police vehicle in central Maidan Wardak province.
The governor’s spokesman, Shahidullah Shahid, said the incident happened near the Teacher Training College in Maidan Shahr, the provincial capital, late on Friday.
