CHARIKAR in the central Parwan province staged a protest, urging stern penalty for murderers of eastern Laghman province women’s affairs director and a female publicly executed in Parwan recently.
The director, Hanifa Safi, along with her husband was killed in a roadside bomb blast on Friday, while a gunman shot dead a young woman in the Shinwari district of central Parwan province for alleged adultery.
Nearly 300 women including representatives of women’s affairs department, civil society groups and non-governmental organisations marched from the department to Gul Ghundi area of Charikar.
They demanded immediate arrest of the murders involved in both the cases and called for stiff punishment.
These recent murders reflected violence against women continued to rise in the country, Parwan women’s affairs department director Shah Jihan Yazdanparast told Pajhwok Afghan News.
In a declaration, the women demonstrators asked the government to control these areas and implement social justice.
Taliban had denied any involvement in the public murder of the woman, while no one has claimed responsibility for Safi’s death so far.
