KABUL): Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, the new commander of the International Security Assistance Force, met President Hamid Karzai on Tuesday.
It was the first meeting between the two leaders since Dunford took command of the ISAF coalition earlier this week.
A statement from the NATO-led force said the intent of the meeting was to reaffirm ISAF’s support to the campaign and continue the productive relationship with the Afghan government.
“I’ll endeavor to continue the momentum of the campaign and support the people of Afghanistan as they seize the opportunity for a brighter future,” Dunford said in his remarks upon taking ISAF command.
