HERAT CITY (PAN): Five armed rebels have been killed and two policemen injured in two separate incidents in western Herat and northwestern Badghis provinces, officials said on Sunday.
Three insurgents were killed after they stormed police-check posts in Oba district, Herat police spokesman, Col. Noor Khan Nekzad, told Pajhwok Afghan News. Two policemen were slightly injured in the clash.
Another two fighters perished in clash triggered by an attack on a police checkpoint in the Sang-i-Atisha area of Maqur district in Badghis, said Syed Sharafuddin, the governor’s spokesman. Civilians and police were not harmed.
