KABUL Complaint Commission’s headship in return for $3,000, or 159,000 afghanis.
Public representative from northern Balkh province Maulvi Abdur Rahman Rahmani told the lower house that an elderly figure had sought the bribe from him before last week’s election for the slot.
Without naming anyone, the parliamentarian claimed having concrete evidence of the offer.
MP from Kabul Allah Gul Mujahid, who is also a member of the house panel, verified Rahmani’s claim. The offer was made by a grey-haired man, who had a stick in his hand, he said.
Deputy Speaker Mirwais Yasini, who chaired the session, stressed the need for a thoroughgoing probe into the allegation.
The house administrative board was elected last week, while commission heads, their deputies and secretaries are currently being chosen by ballot.
