TALOQAN (PAN): A district administrator was among three people killed in a roadside bombing in northern Takhar province on Thursday, a police official said.
Ishkamish district chief Abdul Manan Hakimi, his son and nephew died in the blast that occurred in front of his residence at 7am, as Afghans celebrated the new solar year.
Police spokesman Col. Abdul Khalil Asir told Pajhwok Afghan News two security guards of the district chief were wounded in the attack.
Hakimi, 50, had no enmity with anyone, according to Col. Khalil, who said no one had been arrested so far in connection with the bombing.
As usual, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. The group’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid the district administrator had long been on their hit-list.
