KABUL): The Council of Ministers on Monday ordered the drafting of a new law on population census, the Office of the Administrative Affairs said.

Ministers of Justice and Parliamentary Affairs were tasked with preparing the draft and sending it to the Wolesi Jirga for approval as soon as possible.

The Independent Administrative Reform & Civil Services Commission (IARCSC) chief briefed the Cabinet on recruitment exams that was designed to build staff capacity and ensure merit-based appointments.

While approving the IARCSC exam, assigned the commission head to satisfy lawmakers on the issue of the recruitment system, a statement from the Office of the Administrative Affairs said.

The meeting also accorded approval to a VIP lounge at the Kabul International Airport, to be built by a Turkish company known Ropcu Group. The Ministry of Civil Aviation was directed to launch work on the project.
