The CJTF primary court convicted 704 drug traffickers and acquitted two others. The appeal court upheld the primary court verdicts in 701 cases, a spokesman for the task force told a press conference in Kabul.
He said the Supreme Court upheld 607 convictions. Government officials and foreigners were among the convicts who were sentenced up to 20 years in jail.
CJTF Prosecutor Yar Mohammad Hussainkhel said seven Iranians, three Pakistanis, two women and 20 government employees were among the convicts.
More than 4.5 tonnes of heroin, 36 tonnes of morphine, 71 tonnes of opium, 120 tonnes of hashish, 43 tonnes of chemicals and 42,000 litres of alcoholic beverages were seized, he added.
