KABUL): Three men were shot dead while asleep as a result of a prior enmity in Deh Yak district of southern Ghazni province, while three children accidently died in central Uruzgan province, officials said on Sunday.
A man identified as Zafar was shot to death along with his two friends when they were asleep at one of the friends’ guesthouse in Deh Yak district of Ghazni, where a festival to celebrate the inauguration of Ghazni City as the Asian Capital of Islamic Culture entered its second day on Sunday.
The shooting took place in Fajak village, said the town’s administrative head, Hajji Fazal Ahmad. A fourth adult was injured in the gun attack, he said, linking the killings to a family feud.
In Uruzgan, three children of a family were killed and another three minors injured when a wall of their home caved in as a tractor ploughed in behind the house in Tirinkot, the provincial capital.
Resident Zahooruddin said the incident happened in Ayubzai area. Police said they had launched their investigation into the deaths.
In Farah, five policemen, including a captain, sustained injuries when a landmine blew up their vehicle in Koshkak area of Push Koh district on Saturday evening, the town’s acting administrative chief, Abdul Rauf Abdul Hai, said.
Captain Fazal Ahmad and four other policemen injured in the blast were taken to the Civil Hospital, he said, adding Ahmad was said to be in critical condition.
