LASHKARGAH (PAN): Six policemen and two insurgents have been killed in separate security incidents in southern Helmand province over the past 24 hours, officials said on Tuesday.
Two fighters and as many policemen were killed during a clash in Khanshin district late on Monday, the governor’s office said. The fire exchange was triggered by an attack on a police patrol.
Four policemen were killed in a rebel assault on a police checkpoint in the Sistani area of Marja district, a statement from the governor’s house said.
Elsewhere in the province, two civilians were wounded in a roadside bombing in the Chaghali area of Musa Qala district. As usual, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the assaults.
