KABUL (PAN): The Kabul crime branch chief, Lt. Gen. Mohammad Zahir, on Wednesday accused a number of parliamentarians of supporting kidnappers and making efforts to release them from prisons.
Addressing a press conference in Kabul, Gen Zahir claimed whenever they arrested kidnappers, members of Wolesi Jirga or Meshrano Jirga overtly launched efforts to have them freed.
Without naming such parliamentarians, Gen. Zahir said the practice was unacceptable and must be stopped. He warned of unveil the MPs names to the media if they continued to meddle in police affairs.
Some days back, Kabul police had detained a dreaded criminal involved in several abduction cases, he recalled. Some lawmakers were making efforts for the outlaw’s release, the official alleged.
