The youth held two separate gatherings in Nangarhar and Laghman provinces to oppose the Taliban office that was set up last week in the Qatari capital Doha.
Organised by the Afghanistan National Youth Organisation, the gathering in Jalalabad was attended by hundreds of the organisation’s activists in support of Second Vice President Qasim Fahim and against Zalmai Khalilzad, the former US ambassador to Afghanistan.
Fahim has recently alleged that some foreign nationality holders, including Khalilzad, were acting against Afghanistan’s interests.
The youth group’s Nangarhar chapter secretary, Lal Mohammad Samim, told Pajhwok Afghan News that if the Taliban wanted peace and share in the government then why they did not respond positively to President Karzai’s demands.
He believed foreign intelligence agencies and the Taliban would plan their conspiracies at the Qatar office.
Another youth activist, Najibullah Nayel, urged the countrymen to vote for individuals having only Afghan nationality in the upcoming presidential elections. He said there were many individuals in the country possessing natioanalies of three countries.
In Laghman, a large number of youth took part in a rally that opposed the opening of the Taliban political office in Doha.
They alleged the Qatar office had been established by foreign intelligence agencies to hatch anti-Afghanistan plots.
