KABUL): Fourteen Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers have been killed and several others wounded in incidents of violence in different parts of the country, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said on Sunday.
Seven of the soldiers were killed and three others injured in insurgent assaults, including roadside bombings, in Helmand, Kandahar, Paktika, Kunar and Kabul districts, a brief statement from the ministry said.
A large number of militants were also killed during clashes in Musa Qala, Maiwand, Orgun and Sarobi districts, according to the MoD statement that did not put a specific figure on the rebel fatalities.
It added the soldiers seized a huge quantity of weapons and ammunitions from the fighters during operations over the past 48 hours. Following the recent security switch, casualties among Afghan soldiers and police have spiked.
