MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): Balkh Governor Atta Mohammad Noor on Tuesday said the approval of a draft law on census was not acceptable for.
Due to a lack of quorum and a walkout by some lawmakers, the Wolesi Jirga’s decision was shorn of legitimacy, said the governor’s spokesman, Munir Farhad.
He told Pajhwok Afghan News the draft law was approved by 105 lawmakers of the 136 present. Nearly 10 MPs strongly opposed deletion of tribe’s name from the computerised identity cards.
The governor believed that a mention of tribe’s name was the right of every Afghan, Farhad said.
