ISLAMABAD (PAN‘s southwestern Balochistan province, officials said on Saturday.
The assailants fled to nearby mountains immediately after they stormed the check post in Sanstar area near the Pakistan-Iran border, Home Secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani told journalists.
He said the militants attacked the checkpoint with heavy weapons, including rockets. No group immediately claimed responsibility, but Baloch separatists are believed to have perpetrated the attack.
Durrani said another seven guards were wounded and evacuated to Gwadar for medical treatment. Three of the injured are said to be in serious condition.
The paramilitary Frontier Corps, Coast Guard and Levies personnel were dispatched to the site to mount a search for the attackers.
