KUNDUZ CITY/PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN have been shot to death in northern Kunduz and Baghlan provinces and their killers had escaped, officials said on Monday.
A man killed his 24-year-old wife with a Kalashnikov in the Chahar Dara district of Kunduz after she returned home from a market, where she had gone without first asking for her spouse permission, the district police chief, Col. Ghulam Muhieedin, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The husband had fled, but police had launched a manhunt for him, he said.
Married five years ago, the woman left behind two children and her murder was strongly condemned by the provincial Women’s Affiars Deparment.
The department head, Nadira Gayah said she was the 11th woman to be killed and their killers managed to flee in Kunduz this year.
Another woman was killed in Pul-i-Khumri, the capital of Baghlan province. Her dead body was brought to the civil hospital around 2am, said the hospital chief doctor, Gul Ahmad Wardak.
He said the mother of four children had received bullets in the head.
Her relative Mohammadullah said: “It was midnight when I heard gunshots. When I reached the house of my relative, I found her gasping her last breath.”
Police spokesman Javed Basharat said the mother of the slain woman had accused her son-in-law of killing her daughter.
The case is being investigated, but no one has so far been arrested, he said/
