KABUL): Thirty-seven militants have been killed in operations by Afghan forces in different parts of the country over the past 24 hours, the government claimed on Wednesday.
Backed by coalition forces, police, army and intelligence personnel conducted the clearance operations to clean several areas of terrorists, the Ministry of Interior said.
The operations were conducted in Helmand, Kunar, Nuristan, Maidan Wardak, Laghman, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Ghazni, Herat and Nimroz provinces.
At least 17 insurgents were wounded and 13 others arrested, a statement from the ministry said, adding police also seized ammunition and 92 kilograms of opium.
Police also defused 28 different types of landmines placed by the “enemies of Afghanistan” in Nangarhar, Laghman, Kandahar, Zabul and Helmand provinces.
