Wrapping up a three-day engagement with Canadian troops within the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) framework, Lt. Gen. Stuart A. Beare was pleased with their progress.
In a statement from ISAF, he said: “I am heartened to see how much progress the ANSF have made over the years, enabled by the collective service and sacrifice of the men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces, our international partners and Afghans themselves.”
Beare acknowledged while challenges still existed, progress was being made. He recognised the efforts, contributions and successes of the Canadian forces in Afghanistan.”
He met senior officials from defence and interior ministries, as well ISAF and the Canadian embassy. He also visited Canadian troops and led the final Canadian Remembrance Day ceremony in Afghanistan.
