Jawzjan road crash leaves 3 dead

SHIBERGHAN (PAN, injured in a traffic accidents on the Jawzjan-Balkh highway on Wednesday, an official said.

A van driver and a passenger were killed and seven others were wounded as a result of a collision with a truck this morning, said Col. Abdul Manan Raufi, a Jawzjan police officer.

A speeding car, coming from Mazar-i-Sharif, skidded off the road due to the collision, killing a policeman and injuring the two passengers, he added.

The casualties occurred when the Russian-built Kamaz truck ploughed into the van parked in Shorarigh area, east of Shiberghan, Col. Manan explained.

The injured, including three women, are under treatment in the Shiberghan Civil Hospital. Their health condition is stable, said Dr. Mohammad Ibrahim Khaliq, the surgical department head.

He confirmed handing the three dead bodies to their relatives.
