KABUL): A court has ordered the interior ministry in Islamabad to provide information on the whereabouts of six Pakistani citizens released from Bagram jail by US forces, a media report said on Friday.
Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan of the Lahore High Court (LHC) gave the ministry until Nov. 25 to furnish its reply. The judge had earlier asked the government whether or not the Pakistanis had been freed.
According to the Daily Times, the Foreign Office counsel informed the court the six detainees had been freed and handed over to Pakistan on Saturday (Nov. 16). The detainees’ whereabouts was a matter concerning the interior ministry, he said.
Maryam Haq, the counsel for the detainees, said local authorities had held the released Pakistanis since November 16. Relatives of the men were not allowed to meet them, she alleged.
The six men are Hamidullah Khan, Sabeel Suleman, Abdul Qadir Imran, Muhammad Riaz, Abdul Karim and Palak Jan.
