MEHTRALAM (PAN commander— Abdul Mateen— were killed in a joint Afghan and foreign forces operation in Alishang district of the eastern Laghman province, a statement said on Friday.
A statement from the governor office said the anti-militants offensive was launched in Paikhel area of the district early in the morning to purge the locality of anti-state elements.
A notorious militants’ commander Abdul Mateen and his colleagues Shamsu Rahman, Dai Gul, Rehmat Gul and Sher Muhammad were killed during the joint forces’ operation.
Sources said the slain Abdul Mateen was the commander of militants in the area who was allegedly involved in various anti-state activities.
The statement said that security forces suffered no casualties.
