The four insurgents died after one of the bombs they were planting on a road in Tarkha Nawar area of Marja district in Helmand province went off on Monday night, police spokesman Col Abdul Ahad Chopan told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Police found corpses of the four on Tuesday morning, he said, adding four rockets aimed at Lashkargah, the provincial capital, were also seized in the same area.
In neighbouring Kandahar, a roadside bombing left a woman and a child injured in Panjwai district late on Monday, the governor’s house said in a statement.
It said the woman and the child were on their way to visit relatives in Talakan area when stepped on the improvised explosive device.
They have been taken to a local hospital for treatment from the scene, where police seized 20 kilograms of explosives.
