KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): Afghan security and foreign forces have seized six suicide vests and weapons in the Shah Walikot district of southern Kandahar province, officials said Wednesday.
Javed Faisal, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the joint operation was conducted in Ishaqzai village. One suspect was detained and an AK47, a rocket, mines and a motorcycle seized.
The offensive in Shah Walikot district has been underway over the past few days flush out militants, the spokesman said, claiming a fall in insurgent activities in the area.
A landmine was defused by police in Dand district, according to Faisal, who 10 packets of hashish were also recovered.
