KABUL (Pajhwok): A three-vehicle crash killed five people and injured eight others in Shakar Dara district of central Kabul province on Saturday, officials said.
A vehicle carrying intelligence officials slammed into a car due to icy road conditions and hit another car in Cheshma Dogh area, leaving four civilians and one National Directorate of Security (NDS) official dead.
Another five civilians and three NDS officials were injured in the incident, the district chief said.
Abdul Gheyas Patang told Pajhwok Afghan News all the wounded were rushed to a hospital in Kabul City and one of them was said to be in critical condition.
Eyewitness Ahmad Shahab Ramin said the NDS vehicle crashed into the cars after slipping on the icy road.
He saw five dead bodies when he helped others to pull out the wounded from the cars.
In western Farah province, two people were killed and a third wounded when the bike they were riding crashed on a road in Dahak area of Farah City, the provincial capital.
Traffic Department head Mohammad Asif said the incident took place on Friday night about 7pm.
Farah civil hospital director Dr Abdul Hakim Rassouli confirmed receiving two dead bodies and a wounded person at the hospital. He said the injured was in stable condition.
