Karzai was talking to European Union special representative for Afghanistan Franz-Michael Skjold Mellbin, who led a number of ambassadors from European countries, the Presidential Palace said in a statement.
The meeting conferred on the April elections, cooperation and the strategic agreement between Afghanistan and the European Union, the Afghan peace process and the bilateral security agreement between Kabul and Washington, the statement said.
Karzai said there was no doubt the achievements Afghanistan made over the past decade had been a result of assistance and cooperation from the EU and the international community.
The president said the upcoming presidential and provincial elections would be held as scheduled and that his government was committed to holding inclusive, transparent and fair elections.
Karzai insisted on continued economic assistance and investments by EU countries in Afghanistan.
The statement said EU countries envoys reassured long-term cooperation with Afghanistan in diverse fields beyond 2014, when NATO combat mission ends.
