LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): A dozen militants have been killed during two separate security operations in southern Helmand and Kandahar provinces, officials said on Tuesday.
In Helmand, four rebels were killed and three others injured during an operation in Mukhtar Kala area of Nahr-i-Saraj district on Monday night, a police spokesman said.
Col. Abdul Ahad Chopan told Pajhwok Afghan News the operation targeted an insurgent hideout, where 15 roadside bombs were also seized.
A Taliban spokesman, Qari Yusuf Ahmadi, claimed nine Afghan soldiers had been killed in roadside bomb attacks in Nahr-i-Saraj and Musa Qala districts.
In Kandahar, eight militants were killed and a number of weapons and narcotics seized during an operation in the Panjwai district, the governor’s house said in a statement.
