MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Up to 50 families have been displaced by a looming landslide in the Dara-i-Sauf Bala district of northern Samangan province, an official said on Tuesday.
Ahmad Ali Hassani, the district’s administrative head, told Pajhwok Afghan News a mountain in Barja Hassani area started sliding on Monday afternoon.
Parts of the mountain had developed cracks, he said, adding the 50 threatened families had shifted to safer places along with their household items.
He added the governor’s house had sent a delegation to the site to evaluate the situation. The mount slide had slowed down but would force another 200 families if it continued.
Hundreds of people were killed and displaced after a recent landslide in northwestern Badakhshan province.
