KABUL) on Saturday said the Afghans were confident of the security provided by their own forces and were optimistic about a future of progress and opportunity.
ISAF commended the Afghan forces for essentially conducting non-stop security operations following the April 5 elections, securing approximately 6,200 polling centers across the country.
“Once again, the Afghan forces have provided the people with the opportunity to vote. And once again, the Afghan people have shown courage and determination in casting their ballots,” said ISAF Commander Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr.
In a statement, he said: “The professionalism and commitment of the Afghan forces was reflected in their applying lessons learned from the first round of elections. Their tireless and effective efforts to bring peace and security to the Afghan people and to support political transition give me great optimism for the future.”
He reiterated ISAF’s commitment to continuing the strong partnership with Afghanistan, hailing Afghan forces achievements over the past year as enormous.
