KABUL (Pajhwok): Ten insurgents have been killed during a military operation in the remote northeastern province of Badakhshan, the Ministry of Defence said on Friday.
At least 15 fighters were wounded and weapons seized during the Afghan National Army (ANA) offensive in Jurm district, a statement from the ministry said.
The military action was launched in response to public demand for better security in the district.
A counterinsurgency operation was also conducted in the Dilaram district of Nimroz, the ministry announced. Several insurgents were killed in the offensive.
The security forces seized a heavy machine gun, a rocket launcher, a Kalashnikov rifle and three cars from the militants, the statement added.
