ISLAMABAD (Pajhwok): US Special Representative for Afghanistan Ambassador James Dobbins visited Islamabad on Monday to discuss post-election scenario in Afghanistan.

Dobbins met Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen. Raheel Sharif and discussed the post-election situation and coordination on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The outgoing envoy also held talks with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz.

“The discussions covered Pakistan-US bilateral relations and developments in Afghanistan,” the Foreign office spokesperson said. The two sides reiterated their resolve to further deepen mutual consultations on post-2014 Afghanistan.

In the regional context, Aziz reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to a peaceful, stable and united Afghanistan. He appreciated the efforts of Secretary John Kerry for ensuring an understanding on election-related issues.

US Ambassador Richard Olson and Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry were also present. Aziz stressed the military operation, Zarb-e-Azb, in North Waziristan was to aimed address combat terror without any discrimination.
