TALOQAN (Pajhwok): At least nine civilians were killed and 24 others wounded in a bomb blast in the Khwaja Ghar district of northern Takhar province on Thursday, an official said.
The incident occurred at around 11:00 am in the main bazaar of district headquarters, the governor’s spokesman, Sunatullah Taimur, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The target was a convoy of the Afghan Local Police (ALP) but the explosives attached to a motorbike went off prematurely, causeing the civilian causalities.
He said women and children were among the injured, seven of whom are stated to be in critical condition.
Dr. Hafizullah Sapi, the public health director, confirmed receiving nine dead bodies and 24 others with multiple injuries. Women and children were among the victims, he added.
