KABUL (Pajhwok): Presidential spokesman Aimal Faizi said on Monday people’s mandate should be respected and the next set-up should be a government of national Participation.
In a statement, Faizi said people’s vote should be respected and results of the presidential election announced as soon as possible.
President Hamid Karzai had the credit of establishing a government of unity in the country, he said, adding the nation had experienced such a dispensation the past 13 years.
He expressed optimism the election results would be announced soon and the new president inaugurate by the end of the current month.
During his meeting with John Kerry, the US secretary of state, Karzai had underlined the need for the early announcement of results.
The inauguration of the new president was scheduled on the 5th day of Eid-ul-Fitr but had to be delayed because of differences between the presidential runners.
