MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): A newly-established radio station on Thursday launched broadcasts from a seminary in central Kapisa province.
Established at the Sher Khankhel Haqqania Madrasa in the Bagh Shirkat area of the Kohistan-I district, the radio, Risalat, airs mostly religious programmes.
An official of the radio, Abdul Salam Jawad, told Pajhwok Afghan News that they had obtained permit from the Ministry of Information and Culture for running the station.
He said the FM radio using the frequency of 94.9 MHz could be heard in Kapisa, Parwan and some areas in Panjsher province.
He said some radios aired programmes that harmed people’s mind and the aim of Risalat Radio was to counter that phenomenon.
He said they had established the radio in line with people’s demand and requirements.
Jawad said he himself bore all expenses on the radio’s establishment and urged the government and businessmen to help them run the facility.
