MAIMANA (Pajhwok): A young man was gunned down by a losing provincial council candidate after a verbal clash in the capital of northwestern Faryab province, an official said on Monday.
Faryab police spokesman Syed Massoud Yaqubi told Pajhwok Afghan News the 22-year-old, Hazrat Gul, was killed by Sarwar, a failing provincial council candidate. Police had arrested Sarwar, he said.
Giving an eyewitness account, Muhammad Ashraf said he was with Gul at his home when Sarwar came in and entered a dispute with Gul before opening fire at him.
