KABUL (Pajhwok): A group of men writing the slogans of Islamic State (IS) on the walls in central capital Kabul has been detained, the Ministry of Interior said on Wednesday.
Najib Danish, the ministry’s deputy spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the group was detained on Tuesday night when they were writing slogans on the Kabul University’s walls in support of the Sunni radical group.
He said the detainees would be identified to the media, pending an investigation.
The arrests come days after some lower house members claimed the IS had launched its terror activities in some provinces, including southern Ghazni.
Having seized many areas in Iraq and Syria, the IS fighters have been battling Iraqi security forces and allied tribal fighters.
Meanwhile, Taliban militants on Wednesday afternoon shot dead three policemen and injured a fourth in western Farah province, an official said.
Deputy police chief acting Col. Juma Khan told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in the Nangab area south of Farah City, the provincial capital.
He said the burqa-clad attackers opened fire at the police from a car. The four policemen manned a post located between two mountains.
Khan said a burqa had been found at the scene, adding the post had newly been established to secure the provincial capital.
Civil hospital’s deputy head Dr. Abdul Hakim Rassouli confirmed receiving the bodies of three policemen and one in injured condition. He said the injured cop was in stable condition.
The injured policeman, Sher Aqa, told Pajhwok Afghan News from his hospital bed that the Taliban were riding in a car and when police signaled them to stop, they opened fire using rockets and other heavy and light weapons.
Two containers used as rooms at the police post caught fire in the attack and were destroyed, Aqa said.
