KHOST/TALOQAN (Pajhwok): A suspected militant was killed in a blast caused by his own explosives in Khost province and three alleged killers have been detained in Takhar, officials said on Thursday.
The blast took place in the Thani district on Wednesday evening, the district chief, Javed Joshan, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the militant was planting the bomb in the Dargai area when it exploded, killing him on the spot. It was a powerful blast that cut the man’s body into pieces.
Khost governor’s spokesman, Mubariz Zadran, said the slain person was a suicide attacker, but his explosives went off prematurely.
A resident of the area, Mohmmad Anwar, said the deceased was a memorizer of the Quran and previously his brother had died in a similar act.
In northern Takhar province, security officials said three persons accused of murders had been arrested.
The men were detained in Taloqan, the provincial capital, Takhar police spokesman Col. Abdul Khalil Asir told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said police had been searching for the three men and each of them had allegedly committed one or two murders.
Crime branch police chief Ahmad Shah Saleh said the detainees had confessed to their crimes.
