KABUL defeated Scotland in their opening one-day international match by eight wickets in the United Arab Emirates, an official said on Thursday.
Afghanistan Cricket Board spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News Scotland batted first and managed to set Afghanistan 237 runs target in the stipulated 45 overs game.
Scotland lost eight wickets, with Afghan bowlers Daulat Zadran clinching three wickets and Mirwais Ashraf two.
Afghanistan chased the target in the 37th over with eight wickets in hand. Javed Ahmad top scored with 74 runs. Nasir Jamal also made his fifty and made 52 runs.
Osman Ghani and Afsar Zazi both made 48 runs each.
It was Afghanistan first match as part of four ODIs against Scotland and Ireland ahead of the World Cup next month in Australia and New Zealand.
